From Lake Tegernsee via Lake Achensee to Italy!

Transalpine crossing

This long-distance hiking adventure lets you experience Bavarian culture, Tirolean hospitality, and the famous South Tirolean wine. Two stages of this unique route over the Alps lead through the Achensee region. Discover the stunning natural scenery, the rich cultural heritage, and many quaint inns along the way.

Stage 2
From Wildbad Kreuth to Achenkirch am Achensee: You walk over a gentle mountain ridge, crossing the Bavarian-Tirolean border. Enjoy gorgeous views over the plain which lies north of Lake Tegernsee and the Zillertal Alps. After refuelling with a hearty snack at the Blaubergalm, you continue to Achenkirch at Lake Achensee.
Stage 3
From Achenkirch to Maurach: The route leads along one of the most beautiful paths in Tirol on the western shore of Lake Achensee to the Gaisalm, which is the only alpine hut in Tirol that can only be accessed on foot or by boat. Walk along the lakeside path to Pertisau and to the stage finish Maurach.
